To get to the start

The track you will come down at the end of the walk is off the El Chorro – Abdelajis road, either 3 km from El Chorro station, or 2.6 km from the junction with the Alora road at las Angosturas. The track is by a large rock with a postbox set into it. Leave 1 car in a layby on the north side of the road heading from the end of the track towards Las Angostursas.

The quickest way to the start of the walk is to carry on to Abdelajis, then drive through the village to the main road (just follow the main drag without turning downhill and you will meet the main road at the north end of the village). Turn left onto the main road and continue to Km 16. Take the left turn signposted ‘Estacion de Gobantes ‘. The track starts by a large semi derelict farmhouse 5 km from the junction.

Park at the start of the track.

The walk

Follow the track past a farm, where it turns sharply to the left through a rather dilapidated gate. Keep following the track, taking a sharp fork to the left at about 5km where there is a bar across the road. Keep following the track through a farm (Cortijo de Campano on the map).

Walk a few metres past the spring (note there are leaches in the large tank at the bottom) and a semi derelict farm. Then before reaching the signpost, cut off right, finding a way across the arroyo, until you meet a second parallel track around 100m away. Turn left onto this track. Continue along the track downhill. It skirts the east end of Huma and then heads along the south side.

At a clear fork in the track there is a sign to El Chorro to the right, and to Abdelajis along the track you have come on. Take the third option down hill to the left. Turn left at the obvious t-junction in a few 100 metres and continue till you get to the ElChorro Abdelajis road.

Alternatively, if you leave 1 car at El Chorro station to start with, then you can follow the sign to El Chorro and continue along the track.
